The difference between what the district promises & what's delivered is very different. We've experienced teachers abusing students. We experienced it so badly that our children's doctor told us to go to his school immediately and withdrawal him! We experienced it in an open concept elementary school where we found out the 5th grade math teacher, Shelly EBRIGHT was screaming right in children's faces. Other parents left their kids there but said she was their worst nightmare. An another, Ms Mango at Westerville South high school, who actually ruined our son's chances of getting into his college of choice. She kept refusing to release his actual grades and his top two choices quit calling. She also bullied and made fun of many students. Very unprofessional! And both of those teachers are still employed, making over $80,000/year!
They have a no tolerance bullying policy that isn't... Meaning they generally don't punish bullies, including their item teachers.

I'm currently a freshman attending Westerville City Schools and I really feel like I belong here. I've been treated well by both students and teachers, I feel like I've been learning well with all the resources provided, and the environment is pretty good to me. My school is currently going through with renovations so there are some distractions but nothing too much. There's a lot of diversity and I feel like I connect well with my peers. I love the school culture here, there's a lot of school spirit coming from everyone.
I began school in this district at the beginning of my fourth grade year. My elementary teachers were very welcoming, and I was placed into advanced classes, like my previous school placed me into. Once I got to middle school, I had similar relationships. Every time I asked a question, my teachers would make sure I understood the answer before moving on. They did this with all students in my classes. As a high school student, the teachers did the best they could with how many students came through their classrooms. At Westerville Central, my high school, there are so many students that seniors do not get lockers. Students cannot open enroll into my school from another Westerville high school because we have too many students. Being over capacity at Central worries me because it means that teachers cannot focus on making sure every single student understands the subject before moving on.
