West York Area School District Reviews
I graduated from West York in 2015 and all I can say is that graduation day was the best day of my life. I am the youngest of seven kids and we all went through this school district and have come out saying similar things. I understand that schooling is a different experience for everyone but having a decent school to go to can make or break that experience. I enjoyed most of my teachers, but as usual, there were a few teachers that were under qualified and down right rude to students. The curriculum was ridiculous. I was no where near ready for real life coming out of high school. They teach you things from a text book that don't relate or have anything to do with reality. I did not feel prepared for college or adult responsibilities. School felt like a prison and not a fun or friendly learning environment.
Teachers care, innovative leaders, kids seek ownership opportunities. Districts are what the kids and families create and negative community influences do not prevent innovative opportunities for the students.
I made a lot of friends and many of my teachers were very kind and nice. My teachers were all very involved and also good at teaching their subject. Some things I wish would change is the amount of fights and disrespect that is present. A lot of the students within my school do not respect authority and are very demeaning towards them, I did not appreciate that.
