West Platte has been the only school I've ever been to. I got on to the cheer team, played some sports, and joined a few clubs. So far, my experience has been good. I have a few teachers that really reach out and help me when I need it and I've really appreciated my time here. I realize how lucky I am to attend this school since preschool, but there are a few things I would change. I live in a small town with a lot of small minded people. My school has been filled with students who continue to pick on others if they don't have the same beliefs as them. There is also a lot of favoritism in most of the activities here. Some of these things aren't necessarily controllable by the West Platte School District, but I do wish to see change.
The faculties are state of the art. The staff is mostly all nice and most are concerned with the wellbeing of their students. The student body is overall good people.
West Platte is a great place to become close to the people and community around you. The school and academics are phenomenal for being an R-II school and students are always surprised by all that West Platte has to offer them. The community is very involved in all of the school activities and will do anything to help the students. The only thing I would change is that our new high school principle is not a fan of school spirit because he feels that it is a distraction from our academics. Most if not all of the students miss our old traditions and are trying to involve all of our students more and start new traditions but he makes it rather difficult to do. Other than that I have no reason to complain!
I came to the school at a young age from a school who didn't have the resources like West Platte did. I was able to push my learning farther and become a better student because of the switch.
West Platte High School is very much like a family. We treat each other like brothers and sisters. All of the teachers are so helpful and we get great one on one attention. Our community is also so supportive of everything we do. One thing I would change though, is how some of our sports are ran. Some coaches just don't treat students fairly when they put as much effort in as someone else. Overall, my school has been very helpful ever since I have been in elementary.
I moved into the West Platte school district halfway through my freshman year, and the first thing that struck me about it was the hospitality of the community. Everyone was so welcoming, and this, coupled with its great facilities, has made me put the school in high esteem.
Growing up living in Weston was an amazing experience. Living in such a small community was great and extremely supportive of everything you as a student achieve. Everybody in the community is always watching your back and making sure you have somebody to lean back on, if it's a teacher or a coach, and sometimes both.
I thought it was a great experience. I moved from Oklahoma around the Tulsa area and West Platte in Weston, Missouri blows my old school out of the water. Better people around, more friendly. Better teachers. Better sports. Better facilities, just an all around good experience.
