West Perry High School is not known for extreme excellence in academics, athletics, or a soaring budget. Other schools may have better facilities or teachers with degrees from more prestigious colleges. However, one thing many other schools do not possess is the care for students teachers and faculty members have at West Perry. They always put their students before their own needs and although sometimes difficult strive to make each student into their best self. Furthermore, with the new renovations done to the school, the facilities are nicer and more modern. These involve new furniture through the school, adding automatic water bottles and drinking fountains, and updated bathrooms. Along with repainting the entire school the team colors. West Perry always strives to make the best students, athletes, and future adults they can. As a senior coming into the 2021 year, I have gone to West Perry for all 13 years of my schooling and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

At West Perry, you are not surrounded by thousands of students. On average there are about one hundred fifty students per class. This allows for a better student to teacher ratio allowing for more bonds to be created. When bonds between students and teachers are made, it creates a better environment for learning and liability. At West Perry, you also do not have to compete against many other students for positions on a team, theatre production, or clubs. Not having as many students allows for more students to have a better opportunity than students who attend a large school. However, at West Perry High School many students and faculty members have seemed to lost their sense of school spirit and support. As a school, we also are not modernized as much as we could be.
I have been a student in West Perry School District since kindergarten. Like any other school we have a few problems but the friendly and kind staff make it all better. We struggled with financials a few years back but we are not steady and working on renovations for the 2019-202 school year. I myself had many personally matters come up and the staff took the time and resources to help me be where I need to be in order to graduate. They send letters or emails out to parents informing them of upcoming events in the school, delays, cancellations, open houses, testings, etc. They work one on one with students to help them reach there full potential. I will most definitely be putting my children into West Perry.
