West Jefferson Hills School District Reviews
The current high school was constructed in the 1950s and is basically falling apart. It's honestly such a dreary environment, but I've gotten used to it over the years. Disregarding the physical decay of the building, many of the teachers at TJ as well as across the district are absolutely wonderful! They genuinely care about forming real connections with students and helping them to succeed.
As a senior at Thomas Jefferson High School, and a long-term student of the district, I have much to say about the inner-workings of the school district. While the sense of community in the district is well above average, the actual academics within the schools and resourcefulness of the administration lack behind. During elementary and middle school years, the willingness and pride of faculty and students is tremendous; however, at the high school, much of this foundation falls apart. For example, the quality of academics does not compare to that of nearby school districts, and the overall preparation and guidance towards the college process can basically be regarded as a failure. Additionally, physical school buildings are not in the best condition to foster an overachieving environment. While I have obtained the greatest benefits this school district can give, much of the system must be revamped to compete with other schools and to provide the best environment for students.
There’s always constant change, but regardless the academics and teachers are amazing. With new superintendents and principals coming in and out of the schools can be confusing, but overall I still enjoy attending school there.
