West Essex Regional School District Reviews
Loved my high school! I felt very prepared when I started college. The teachers and staff were always so kind and helpful, especially the guidance department. My guidance counselor went out of her way to accommodate my academic needs throughout my four years there. A huge part of West Essex was the clubs and of course sports; which is always essential to a college application. I am thankful to have gotten a high school education at West Essex.
I enjoyed my time at West Essex. I made a lot of friends, and was able to grow as both a student and an athlete in a safe and comfortable environment. The curriculum was hard, and teachers focus a lot on your individual success by making sure you are on task and up to date with everything. I was surrounded by friendly staff and administrators. I feel as if I was properly prepared for college and for my future as a student and a citizen. The environment at West Essex is fun, sports teams are rooted for and the atmosphere is energetic. Our pep rally and spirit weeks are a great time, and gets everyone in a good mood. I played for the lacrosse team for four years, and can say that has been one of the better experiences in my life. At West Essex, I didn't mind going to school every day knowing I was going somewhere enjoyable, comfortable, and safe.
West Essex High School is a fantastic school for the athletically inclined. At least 60% of the student body participates in sport-related extra curricular activities, which is great for a college resume, but fails to draw attention to the arts programs and other extra curricular clubs with little funding. There is so much talent throughout West Essex, but that talent is often over looked. If the district would like to be a well-rounded high school, then the board should consider equal funding to all aspects of the school. The argument that sports are what excel more is weak because if time was taken to evaluate the artistic, musical or any other talent one would see how successful that department is.
