West Central Valley Community School District Reviews
The West Central Valley Community School District is a great and wonderful community to be apart of! Members of the school district and community are always helping out within the four towns its located in. The West Central Valley High School has one of the nicest sports complex and schools within the state of Iowa. Plus the High School was conference champs for academics the following school year.
I was a band geek. The music department, and actually the arts in general didn't really matter a whole lot to our schools. They were very focused on sports, and that's okay, except our sports teams kind of sucked and the arts departments were actually kicking ass, at least while I was there. There was also a lot of bullying going on all the time, and the establishment did next to nothing to aid the kids that were being targeted. They barely acknowledged the problem. I never felt like a part of the school because my issues with classes and peers were never important to the administration, nor was the part of school I actually enjoyed; the music. It ran well and I learned what I needed to learn, but they alienate a large portion of their students just because what they love to do isn't out on a field in front of crowds.
Faculty and staff are very involved and passionate about their work. Administration and parent involvement could definitely use some work. More communication between parents and staff could do a lot of good for the culture and overall attitude of the community. Overall, a pleasant public school experience.
