Weslaco ISD is where I found the wonderful people in my life, even though they got hacked we were able to recover and continue our school year. I have been attending this district since I was 4 and they have treated me well. Now we do lack some resources and especially at the school I attend. Most of the school are 10 years old with some renovations. Though Wisd has not failed me in anyway so I would give it 4/5 stars only because they lack a few resources and slightly care about sports more than education, music and art.
Since it is in an underfunded predominantly Hispanic region, resources are fairly low for many students throughout all grades and schools. It is not an ideal learning environment, but the teachers, administrators, and other staff members do as much as they can to help students succeed, given the circumstances and available resources, which is something that I truly appreciate and respect.
I just graduated from Weslaco High School being a part of the Class of 2020. Overall being in the district of most of my academic years starting from 2008, Weslaco Independent School district is one of the best if not the best at being one of the most heavily student and academic focused districts that I know. In each school, the teachers and faculty care about students’ academic success. Not one school that I attended while being a student did one teacher not care for a student’s success. For example, during the pandemic, the district provided laptops and calculators to students without them and transitioned to the environment of online learning without any problems that I have heard of. They also provided lunch to students and children during this pandemic. These acts provided proof that my years of being a student of Weslaco Independent School District is an awesome experience and one that I’ll never forget.
WISD IS THE RIGHT CHOICE. I loved my school and everyone in it. The admin, teachers, and students. I loved the coaches and the athletic department. I wish I could stay here forever but the time has come to move on and start a new chapter.
Overall, the experience at Weslaco Independent School District was great. Every year, WISD managed to improve their care for each of their students! The faculty was extremely involved with various programs: i.e. the athletics program, fine arts program, etc.. progressively expanding and influencing support from various other school districts.
I think WHS is amazing and offers early college programs for free! I'm happy I went with WISD, the right choice. If you had to choose one high school, I would highly recommend WHS, with fun teachers and clubs, you'll get the high school life you've been dreaming of here.
Weslaco Independent School District unfortunately favors Weslaco High School over Weslaco East High School. Every decision made is to improve Weslaco High while Weslaco East sits in the back seat. The football programs are amazing and strong, however, it is the only extracurricular that is valued. The arts and academic extracurricular activities do not receive sufficient funds. Most of the teachers are remarkable and caring. They invest so much into their students to reach their hearts and build a good person. The teachers go the extra mile to help lift students out of their circumstances and have a bright future.
Weslaco Independent School District is exceptional in the fields of academics and the stress of importance of knowledge; however, I would like to see a change in a more advanced system of teaching and criteria expected by the students.
I like that the school district emphasized using technology for the improvement of the classroom. However, I do hope that they choose teachers who are more interested in their job.
I liked the teachers and the opportunities that were given to us as students, and the courses that I took I feel are going to help me for college. And being a student athlete, they make sure that you are helped in getting your college career going and they will do anything to give you that chance.
The teachers I had were hard on each of us knowing that in order to be successful it takes hard work and dedication. Nothing is easy in life and nothing is given to you, you have to earn it.
The thing I liked about the weslaco independent schools is that the teacher princlples and staff especially counsalers help you with whatever you need. The schools are well known for the top academics and it’s all because the teachers teach the way they are supposed too
The Weslaco Independent School District has always attempted to make my education reach it's highest potential, therefore deeming it as average. However, I do not feel that this District has truly prepared me for applying for college or getting ready for life outside of high school.
Throughout my journey I discovered the magnificent attributes that are in the hands of every Welslaco student, including myself. Elements such as friendship, sportsmanship, and humility, in conjunction with an eloquent touch of ethical standard, tremendously enlighten the entire facility, which, for the majority of us, is known as "home". Weslaco Independent School District per se, is considerably successful in other areas such as athletics, extracurricular activities, and involvement in the community, in addition to the college readiness , and the vast experience and good morale of the teachers and always-humble administration, which is willing to support students in everything they need, not limited to the academical environment. WISD, unlike any other district in the United States, incorporates the passion-for-teaching style, respect, and humility within the school facility, and the community as a whole
The Weslaco Independent School District has a very good school system, and allows students of all backgrounds to thrive and receive opportunities that would not be possible in other districts. They provide excellent academic programs, clubs for high schools, early college options, and extra curricular programs.
Weslaco Independent School District is a very attentive district that applies to each students' academic future. The level of education that each student is placed under is just the right amount to challenge them into becoming better. Overall, the facilities and faculty are greatly appreciated, for they prioritize to all the students' needs and exceed to makes this district a loving comfortable environment.
The Weslaco ISD is a very unique school district, they pull out all the stops to make sure their children succeed. The district has many creative community programs and projects to make sure everyone can be involved.
