As a parent of grads and alum of Webster Groves, and an educator in both private and public sectors of education, I can confidently say that Webster Groves HS is a public school with private school objectives, minus the nose in the air stereotypical attitude! The community offers solidarity and individuality combined to each its students along with intellect and creativity in each classroom. When asked where I went to High School (like every St. Louisan does) I am prouder to announce WGHS than any of the private schools I have taught in.
I transferred to WGHS as a junior last year and they were very welcoming. I got to join a program for transfer students that really helped me get started. Most of the teachers I had were understanding and patient with me as well. The only reason why I didn't give it five stars was that the didn't give students as many fun responsibilities as they did at my old school. For instance, last year we would have to watch daily announcements on a slideshow presentation where at my old school the students would make the announcements live and sometimes interview other students or include other fun things in them. Also, the clubs I tried out weren't very engaging. I've heard good things about other clubs from friends though so not all of them are the same setup.
I liked the people aka teachers. Students were ok also. The environment was so great sometimes. did different safety drills to protect us ( the students ) and did I tell you about the staff some of the staff was really nice. Also, the teachers were so involved with the students during classes and out of classes like after school.
Such as after school activities or aka ( Clubs). My experience was overall great got to take a lot of memories from it to tell my children ( when I have children ) what high school was like for me when I was growing up. So now you know my opinion about going to Webster Groves High School.
