I have gone to Waxahachie schools since 1st grade, and I have absolutely adored every single one of my teachers. All of my teachers have always visibly shown how much they truly care for us. They have all left an amazing and memorable mark on who I am today. I am currently a senior in high school and I help a 1st grade class in my district. The teacher I help is the most amazing teacher I have ever seen. She goes above and beyond for her kids and cares for them like her own children. She makes sure kids get tested for certain things when they struggle, she goes out of her way to thoroughly explain and keep those 6 year olds engaged at all times during the school day. I am explaining this because I see the behind the scenes of how teaching works now and I am truly amazed at how much these teachers love and adore their students.
Going onto my fourth year here at Waxahachie High school, I have honestly had a great high school experience. I feel like getting up in the Years was better and better, feeling as students were given more and more responsibilities but also more freedom. I feel like this School district has fully prepared me for after high school and I’m ready to graduate. There has been some problems, mainly with the teachers. I feel like some of the teachers weren’t able to teach in different ways based on how a kid learns and that can really cause a problem in a classroom. Other then that I have loved my experience here!
My experience at WISD was different from others who might have been going to school there all there lives. Growing up with people you have practically known since you were little you already know who you are going to school with. In a small town everyone knows everyone. For me, being a military child, I did not have the luxury of growing up beside the same neighbors or even get to see family often because of the continuous moving every two to three years. In 2011 my mom got deployed to Afghanistan and my siblings and I moved with my grandparents to Waxahachie. Until we moved again to South Korea then coming back to Waxahachie my sophomore year which is when I really experienced WISD. I was not used to being at a school for so long that the idea of having friends shocked me. I enjoyed being in WISD being the Girls track and field Captain for 2 years. I might have not have gotten the same experience as others students, but the memories I did make at WISD will truly always be cherished.
