Waterbury School District Reviews
Waterbury public schools have their pros and cons. It has amazing diversity and some really good teachers. However, Waterbury isn't such a rich area, therefore, the board of education can't pay for all of the expenses that other places might be able to. When I see other schools not too far from my own, they provide one laptop per student, good and lunches, teachers with anything they need, etc. We have laptop carts, but the laptops are often broken, so half the class might have to sit around and wait for the bell to ring. I'm personally not a picky person but even I can say that most of those lunches aren't edible. Most of the time, teachers are required to buy their own materials. This can also discourage a lot of teachers from deciding to teach in this district, as well as the significantly lower pay rate. This way, students are missing out on many things that others are taking advantage of, as they should.
The Waterbury School District has a very modernized and unique school system. There seems to be a school for everyone, such as fine arts denominated schools or career specified schools. The student body populations are also extremely diverse and varies on each school. The Waterbury school district needs to improve upon the school environment and college readiness.
I have been in the Waterbury schools for my whole life. I feel that the Waterbury School District is unique because you have people who are straight A students going to Harvard and then you have those people who are D students that want to work at McDonald's for the rest of their life. Our schools also have so much diversity, because of this we learn things that we can't learn in a textbook we learn about different cultures and just the different ways of life. Waterbury is so rich with different kinds of people. I feel that people look down on Waterbury, it doesn't have the best reputation but when it comes to schools and friends and family the Waterbury School District does a good job of it even though we have our ups and downs we still learn and get our stuff done so that we become amazing people in the future.
