I have attended Walker County Schools from Kindergarten to 12th grade. Every single teacher I had treated me with kindness and made it clear that they were invested in my progress both in education and in my conduct as part of society in relation to the people and situations around me. I have witnessed examples of how to speak with kindness when students are speaking hatefully, how to respond with patience when students are willfully disruptive, how to love and invest in people even when that love is not returned or even disdained. I have been encourage to push myself and reach for potential I didn't know I had. Every single teacher has been excellent and has made an incalculable impact on my life.

I love my school! I love the message our county puts out, and my academic experience in my high school has been great! The only thing I would change is teacher salaries and giving more funding for classroom supplies and for extracurricular activities/clubs. Perhaps better school lunches and cleaner facilities.
I love that Walker County Schools are so interested in preparing students for college, work, and life. I love that our teachers are willing to aid in things outside of the classroom, such as college applications, financial aid, and many other things that students need to further their education. It is extremely reassuring to have someone that is not only dedicated to teaching students, but also dedicated to helping students be successful once theybare out of school and into the real world. The only thing I would personally change is the grading system. I prefer the traditional grading system where all assignments are counted equally, as opposed to the Walker County grading system, where tests are 80% and classwork is %20. Although, despite this, the support shown by teachers makes it extremely hard to fail any tests, so it is a small change.
