I moved to Voorheesville when I was in 7th grade, back in 2010. When I first got there, I felt like I was an endangered species because I was one of two black people in the entire middle school. As I got used to the school and the environment, I fit right in. I started doing clubs in 8th grade, I started playing sports in 9th. The teachers and staff were nice and welcoming. They helped me straighten my grades so I would be able to graduate and go to college.
Looking back at my education as a youth honestly makes me miss my high school in some regard. My graduating class only had 84 people in it and I knew everyone. All my classes were a max of 20 students per class so there was a lot of involvement of the teachers with the students which was nice. The teachers actually gave a damn about their students and that's honestly the most important thing to have in a school nowadays. Teachers literally have the most important job in society. The only downside of this small town was the lack of clubs, food, diversity, and culture. Since our school was so small there were little clubs to choose from and even classes. Most of the electives offered by the school could be completed within your four years of entering as a freshmen. All the teachers and administration there are awesome though. They all focus on the health and well being of their students which is the most important thing for a high school.
Voorheesville is a great school district. Most classes only have about 70-100 students depending on the grade. Having such small classes for a public school is such an advantage because you really get the ability to have extra help you may need from the teachers. All of the teachers that I had were always so nice and willing to help you if you asked for help, or even if they noticed that you may be struggling.
