School is about average. There is very little racial diversity, but a high LGBT population. Arts programs are more funded than most schools, but most money goes to the band. Theater, choir, and other art programs exist and are led by wonderful staff but underfunded in comparison to the band. Vicksburg's marching band is insanely good, and all arts programs are equally as fun to participate in. Most teachers are good at their jobs, but some just flat out do not teach, particularly in the social studies department.
The Middle School is great and the High school even better! I went in, expecting nothing, and got everything I could need. There are a lot of AP classes, amazing teachers, and very challenging curriculum. The population is inviting and the band amazing.
I like that Vicksburg Community Schools offers a wide variety of Advanced Placement, or college level, courses that provide the opportunity to earn college credit. One thing that I wish could be changed would be the way people are treated by their peers. I would like for everyone to be treated with kindness and not left out for any reason.
