I've been in this school district since pre-school, and I must say theres nothing like it. This school district is located in a low-income area which mean that our school is well funded or supported in general by our government, which honestly makes it hard to get some resources. But I am very thankful for the teacher that go out of their way to support their students that are constantly looking for for opportunities for their students. The community here is also amazing and it one of a kid. In this school there is so much diversity it's incredible, i've never seen this much diversity in any other school. Which makes learning here better.

The Tukwila School District is known for its diversity and it is something we are all proud of saying. When you enter any of our schools, you will find someone who looks like you. Even if you think there is no one who can understand you, everyone is open to learning about what makes you you. You are able to express yourself and feel like you belong to a community. Even though there is an incredible amount of representation in our schools, it is coming from the students; Where are the teachers of color? The majority of teachers are white and the teachers who are people of color don’t have adults who are like them.

What the Tukwila School District needs to work on changing is incorporating teachers and staff of color. Once this is done, kids will have someone to look up to. They will have someone who is like them and can truly understand their situation. It will create a sense of community in which we make sure people of color are being represented in all settings.
I've been going to school in the Tukwila District for 8 years now and I would say that overall I had a very good experience. There are a lot of problems with the academics and the administration here, but the community is impeccable. It is such a tight knit community and it makes me love being in Tukwila.
