Some may believe that the Troy school district isn’t the best, but my experience was quite good, having belonged to it for 13 years. Most recently, I attended the high school, which was an alright experience. Definitely felt that the administration cared more about helping kids falling behind, which is good, but don’t work hard to create a good relationship with the higher achieving students. Sports were the schools prized possession, and many students took advantage of those opportunities. This also led to a lack of interest in other great areas, such as the many clubs and the music and drama departments. I am leaving with over 30 college credits, a good resume, and many experiences I am privileged to have received, all from the work of the amazing teachers. Overall good experience, just sports are heavily influenced, decent administration, great teachers, but horrible building that needs serious work done.
I like the focus on inclusion and education. Although Troy is a public school, I get ample opportunities to take college level courses, and I get more focused time with my teachers because I have such small class sizes. No student is turned away, and it seems like the school puts in the extra effort for students to welcome.
Troy High School offers many opportunities to its students, from academic possibilities to extracurriculars such as sports and many other clubs available. The students who roam the halls are the people who really paint the picture of Troy High. I've personally taken advantage of all of it at Troy High from taking almost every college credit class available, to playing football, and running track at the school. Made my high school experience really that much better.
