Some teachers are very kind and will do all in their power to help you succeed. While some other teachers- like in the math department have more difficulty aiding students. Otherwise, school atmosphere is great. Student's can find many different classes that fit in their target major and can take many advanced courses. School lunch has been aimed to be more healthy, including salads, fruit cups, and changing menu. There are many recourses in the school that help aid students in their educational development, such as counselors, college counselors, ARC, Testing center, and teacher-student meeting times.
I appreciated that many of the teachers truly do love what they do as I have had many friends tell me about teachers they have had that were not invested in the job. Additionally, I appreciated many of the attempts to support student mental health, and the teachers did well with accommodating individuals with certain, specialized needs. I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes halfway through my high school career and the Nurse's and Counseling offices were incredibly helpful. However, the common advanced student was rarely given consideration in the classroom. I myself had to lighten my course load at various points and many of my friends did not lighten the load and lost sleep and personal development time. Overall, the problems District 113 has, such as a low regard for the common student's mental health, are not unique to 113 but the help to students that need accommodations is fantastic. Overall, a good experience with plenty of fixable drawbacks.
My experience with Township High School was absolutely phenomenal. As a student who identifies with being in the LGBTQ+ community, there was never a moment where I felt uncomfortable or out of place. The resources I was provided with to let my education excel were far greater than my peers from other schools. I have had few to no bad experiences, especially with teachers and administrators. Everyone in the building and community is there to help and deeply cares.
