Favoritism runs high in this school. The teachers are overwhelmed with the large class sizes and tend to focus primarily on a select few students within a class. There is not much of a support system between students and teachers which makes for a very untrusting environment. On the sports teams, though one may have incredible talent, they will not see the court or field unless they are within the friend circle. As for the difficulty of classes, they aren't that challenging intellectually and rather lack instruction- very "figure it out yourself". Each year, the distict changes the schedule of classes too which does not include the input from students nor their parents and it has been very frustrating. This year parents struggle with coordinating when to pick up their kids because some days school runs late and lets out very early on other days. The constant changing of schedules has to be taking a toll on the physical and mental health of the students.

I was a TSD student for the entirety of primary and secondary schooling. TSD is a tight-knit, welcoming community, and I always felt I had a home at school. For how little funding the district has, they do a good job with things. I did feel, however, that student and teacher voices were often silenced when big decisions were being made. The biggest example of this is the implementation of standards based grading. Students and teachers alike detest this system, but it has been implemented nonetheless, with virtually no room for feedback from parents, students, or teachers.
Thompson School District offers many opportunities for students to become involved in their community. My school, Mountain View High School, is the newest of the high schools in Loveland and it is a very nice facility. We have good hallway space, an amazing pool and auditorium. The teachers I have met in my district are very involved and helpful to all students. Each teacher is involved with at least one extracurricular activity for their school . Our resource officers are always aware of what is happening and know what is best for our schools. We recently got a new principal at our school and she is amazing. The school district did a very good job hiring her as they do with all teachers.
