Thompson School District Reviews
I have been in this district sense I started kindergarten and being a senior in high school for the 2020 school year I can appropriately respond and share my experience. I feel Thompson School District does a great job in preparing students for the real life and offers great opportunities for students to partake in. One of my favorites was Career Pathways at a local community college. It gave students interesting in health care, culinary, veterinary, wildlife, forestry and automotive technology to take a class at the college level and receive college credit and even a certified certification. The schools themselves are very well taken care of and are ran by the best staff. They all are very friendly and most of all enjoy being there! Our district goes above and beyond, striving to be the best they can. Overall my experience couldn’t be better and I am confident to say I have been prepared for the world ahead of me and couldn’t be more excited for the future.
Our teachers and school staff are absolutely amazing! I've loved all of my teachers and have had a very successful academic career thus far because of them. They are very supportive and interested in our lives outside of school which is awesome because it really shows they care. A couple things that I would like to see change in this district though is the lack of funding for sports. Also we are allowed to do a lot of old traditions like Powderpuff football because of certain regulations with the district so I wish they could be a bit more lenient so we could bring back more dun traditions.
I believe that Thompson Schools are just your average public school. While it is not the worst that you can get, you also can't expect so much. There have been some problems but in the past recent years, they have been quick to fix multiple areas that need improvement. One thing that I will say brings the rating down for me, though, is the continuous threats that the district has received. While they can't control the threats that they receive, they can control how they will act on them. In the past couple of years, there have been many school threats. The district does not have normal procedures for drills and there is not normal talk on suicide or other problems that children normally face. I will say that I appreciate the opportunities the district gives, like concurrent enrollment and the wide range of extracurricular activities.
