I attended Telluride School District from preschool to 4th grade. I unfortunately moved to Montrose in 5th grade and was nothing compared to Telluride. When I moved to Montrose school district in 5th grade, I had noticed that all of my fellow classmates were learning everything I learned in 4th grade. Telluride excels in education and is far more advanced than Montrose. Not only does Telluride excel in academics, but it offers much academic, extra curricular opportunities for students to do. So much that since it's known as a popular ski resort, the entire school excersises the idea of being active that come winter time, they take a day out of the week to go skiing, snowboarding, iceskating..etc And they offer financial assitance for programs like that, or even programs like theater, sports, and alot more. This school district is the best!
I appreciate my AP teachers, yet I wish that they made it more difficult for students to get in. Some of the kids in my classes are not ready for AP level classes. It seems like the class sizes are getting bigger too, not cool… and the rooms are too small for all of us. I wish there were more STEM options, more world language choices. Too much $ goes towards their Spanish classes. I read that some think our diversity is low… but I see about 20% non white kids, and for a rich resort town, not all the kids attending are rich snobs like many would assume. You can see the mountain from the school. I like how there is no football team, hockey rocks.
Good school, but lacks diversity. Lack of diversity leads to problems such as the mainly rich school with very little awareness for equal education.
