I'm currently a senior of TCPS. All the schools in the district are very similar in rules, and learning curriculums. My school is one of the smaller schools, lacking certain sports and even funding for certain extracurriculars, especially the arts. I like that we students, do what we need to achieve our goals. In my school there are no cliques, all the kids are involved with mostly everything, music, art, drama, sports, and science/math/literature clubs and AP's. Teachers are very professional, patient, and open minded. Students experience one-on-one help with teachers whenever they are struggling. The relationship between schools should change in TCPS, allowing schools to share students for extracurricular activities, giving the students who go to a small school in TC to participate in productions or athletics of a bigger school that receives more attention and funding. In conclusion, my overall experience with TC is very good.
The students here are horrible to each other. No one here is accepting of others and every argues. The teachers are the only thing that keeps this place together. The environment is nice but the people could be better. There are difficult classes that you can take like AP and accelerated but there are also standard classes. The sporting events bring this score up to average, everyone is involved in cheering on their school.
TCPS is a good school if for kids who need minimal help but if you are a need based student, it's the opposite. They do not meet the teaching needs of many students, including myself. I have had 3 major concussions, which causes chronic migraines and takes little bit longer to complete assignments/work. For many times, my doctors have sent forms for me to have a 504 Plan (paper assignments, quite work place, more time to work..ect. but I am still being denied one. My counselor has messed up my schedule many times and will not schedule what I originally put down for classes that I need to take for college. One of my teachers, doesn't even teach. He sits at his desk on his phone and tells us to do it on our own with discovery education but the work on there, doesn't match up to any of the class work. Also he is very rude to kids who ask questions, he gets very smart and picks on kids on a daily.
TCPS is not the place for kids.
