Syosset Central School District Reviews

Academically it is an excellent district, the high school had an incredible variety of classes, extracurriculars, etc. The only issue I've had over the years at the high school is due to the schools excellence and how high it ranks compared to the rest of the country. If you are even just an average student (above average compared to national averages), its easy to feel way below your peers. Syosset has an environment where it's "cool" to be stressed, staying up late frequently for schoolwork, overloading yourself with hard classes, sports, clubs, etc. It can be extremely overwhelming at times, and it can make you feel very out of place among your peers, even if you do better than you think.

Growing up in Syosset was truly a privilege. I can honestly say that in addition to the amazing memories and relationships I made throughout my childhood through sports, clubs, extracurriculars, etc., I felt incredibly prepared when making my transition into college. I grew up with plenty of help from all of my teachers and peers, and having a very close knit community made my experience unforgettable. I would definitely recommend syosset school district to any family.
Syosset maintains an outstanding record regarding their quality of education. This would seem like a prime district to enroll their children to most. I was taught from the most inspiring teachers that changed my life and received an education unparalleled to any public school system. That being said, Syosset also has the most overworked and depressed alum. Syosset fails to tell the public that it instills the mindsets within children that they will never live to expectations. Guidance counselors only push big name colleges, barely help with the college process or listen to what a student really wants. The wealth in the town should be seen as a positive of the district, but the money is never seen actually going into funds to help kids. Rather, it’s seen leaving in pockets of the school board. The wealth contributes to an all white district with no diversity. Although Syosset has many negatives, I still feel I had a great opportunity and would not trade my education in this district.
