As someone who attended all four years of high school in Syosset, I greatly valued all the opportunities given to me through sports, clubs, and academics. I believe there is something for everyone and Syosset High School portrays it well. The teachers also played a significant role in my experience as they were very encouraging and reminded students that they were there for anything whether it be for academics or just to talk about anything. Something I would like to see change is where the funds for the school go, possibly not only for some specific sports but for all sports and classrooms.
Honestly after 4 years of being here, I desperately want to leave. This school prepares you academically but never prepares you for real life by giving kids opportunities to do other things besides college. Other then academics, the students here are toxic and terrible and there is nothing you can do about it because how Syosset is set up, you might be stuck with the same people for 7 or more years. There are rarely any good teachers here, majority of them pray on your downfall and make you want to skip their class everyday but obviously you can't. This school spends a lot of their money on sports and doesn't care about the music or arts. This schools lacks school spirit. Nobody goes to homecoming or participates in spirit week, I didn't even know we had homecoming until my junior year. This schools feels like a jail and I can't wait to leave for college.
Syosset High school is a n amazing place. It has given me so many opportunities. There is an unbelievably easy access to new clubs, internships, and opportunities. All the teachers want you to succeed, and pushing the normal course requirements is something that is encouraged. This is a place where learning to ones full potential is encouraged. The competitive environment has prepared me well for college, and has taught me how to take advantages of all my resources and make them work for me.
