I went to a private school from kindergarten to eighth grade. When I transferred for my freshman year before school even started I was meeting lots of friends through band camp. Most teachers there are more personable, so you can get to know them and they really do care for your success in high school and beyond. I have met lots of nice people in my first year of high school which I am still friends with now. The administration is always looking for something to improve on from the previous year, from new weight rooms, CTE building, and remodeling the band hall. Sweeny HS offers a plethora of dual-credit college classes both in and out of normal class time, which has helped me get a better understanding of what college will be like.

Sweeny is a great school in a small town. Everyone knows everyone so it is a fun place to live. All the people come out to Friday night football games which I cheer at. I have loved being a cheerleader for my school and community. I am really looking forward to going to college, but I am going to miss my school and town.
If I could change anything, it would be to have more electives for students to take. We are a small school so we don’t get the benefits of the larger school when it comes to class options and opportunities.
What I love about Sweeny Independent School District is that they genuinely care about you and your goals. They always make sure to provide students with the best opportunities whether it be through academics, athletics, or extra-curricular activities. You feel a sense of pride knowing that you attend/attended Sweeny ISD.
