I absolutely love the performing arts programs in the High School! Our Performing Arts Center is amazing and our director is absolutely phenomenal. The choir program is also amazing. I’ve grown so much as a performer here. However, I dislike a lot of the policies and grading system at my school. We’ve gone to “standards based learning” which grades us on personality and counts for 10% of our overall grade. It is based on a score from 1 to 4 (with 4 being the highest). Earning a 4 means someone goes absolutely above and beyond standards. This is impossible. Students earn a C for 10% of their grade for doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing.

There are some teachers that are really nice, but there are a lot of teachers that shouldn't be teaching. It seems like no matter how many people complain about them, or how many things they do 'wrong', the teachers are still there.
The school building hasn't had any updates in 40 years, it's really disgusting and embarrassing when other schools come for sports. Also, there are A LOT of student behavior problems, sometimes I'm nervous to walk down the hall.
The school overall is pretty average. The environment, in my opinion isn't the best considering how unwelcoming the students can be. However, the teachers, for the most part, are helpful and in-tune with their students and are willing to be a mentor in each and every students lives. Currently the schools administration is rather new and they made a proposal this year consisting of new changes, which is a positive thing considering the facilities and procedures are outdated. The academics could improve, however that comes with most schools around the area. Other than that, I am not ashamed of the school I am graduating from, I am just hoping for it to be better for future generations.
