Sundown Independent School District Reviews
The school district shows little preparation for high school students who are approaching college level studies. There tends to be lack of courses for transferring students who wish to further their education as well as a lack of diversity and culture readiness for students. Despite the readiness that is needed for students, SISD has more than adequate facilities with an extensive library that is available for students as well as an indoor pool for those wishing to seek aquatic advancement. The facility is safe for students and administration surrounded by a low crime environment.
While Sundown aims for success, there is a such thing as aiming too high. The staff strictly enforce everything, from punishment for failing grades, down to ridiculous dress code policies. This district takes away any individuality a student can possess, and turns them into robots compared to students in other districts. Also, a large number or transfer students that come to Sundown are far behind this school's standard, making it nearly impossible to catch up to the level of academic performance of the children who have been there from the time they were in elementary. The expectations these kids are held up to are enormous and require high mental strength.
Very rigorous classes that prepared me well for college. Teachers are caring and get to know you personally. Superintendent is visible and involved with every day activities at the school. Cafeteria not so great but who needs food, right!
