Sumter 01 Reviews
My experience at Sumter 01 has been very changing in my life because not only it made me a different person but it also made me a better person on the inside. Allowing different students from different backgrounds come into one school teaches you a lot about being grateful at times while other times it’s more so like, you should give more back. The teachers are honest about your future and they understand that you have to earn the grade you get. The Administration keeps everything in tact so students aren’t a distraction to other students that wants to learn. The clubs allow you have groups that you can call family because the bond will become tight. The facility is great!
The school district has a great academic foundation that creates a base for kids to follow on through their years of school. In high school they have college base classes that set you up on a foundation for success in college. Connections between teachers are made as they go out of their way to make sure the children in their class succeed. Athletes have a great way as all the schools have great athletic programs. The only thing I would change is the fact that most high schools don’t have great security protecting them from anyone entering the building. I personally know at Sumter high that the back door to the student parking lot is always unlocked letting anyone into the school.
The school has a lot of potential but is in dire need of some changes. The school lacks teachers in the English and Math department and has taken in permanent subs to fill in. This seems reasonable enough, to solve the problem however, many substitutes cannot effectively teach the course. Leading to a demise in student's ability to learn. The school does offer a variety of subjects as well as elective courses however their inability to find qualified teachers is causing turmoil.
