Stillwater Public Schools Reviews
I am a hispanic student at Stillwater I have experience my fair share of discrimination and have been dismissed by administration when I brought up the racist culture of my peers. Many of the teachers do an amazing job. However, other teachers fail to help or become involved with their students. I think Stillwater High School has not helped grow their clubs and many of the extracurricular programs like band seem to injure the student's emotional health. I think Stillwater should also invest more in some of its sports like track because they do not have the best equipment. Stillwater is also planning on building a completely new high school. I understand that they are outgrowing their building but because of that there is no computer lab and the locker rooms are shady. Also science teachers should be given smart boards and the food isn't the most vegetarian friendly. Overall it's high school it isn't supposed to be great. :(
Throughout my time of Stillwater Public schools, I found the teachers and faculty to be more concerned with education than the well being of the students. We've had multiple students harm themselves due to their peers behavior towards each other. The curriculum towards the academics are average considering our state rates in the bottom fifty for worst education. I believe there's improvement to be made at this public school system.
Throughout the entirety of the Stillwater school system, I have seen some of the worst and some of the best staff. The middle school staff was very nice when they talked with the students but a majority of the time only the head principle would leave her office and interact with the students. The junior high was very rough. The vice principles at the time were very stern yet respectable. They knew when to be nice and when to be scary. The main principle at the junior high was a wreck. he was rude and had no respect for the teenage girls he was dealing with. Unless you were sent to his office often, he wouldn't give you the time of day. On the complete other side of the spectrum, the high school staff is outstanding. the principle personally greets every student that walks in the main entrance. Every staff member has a smile and seem proud to be a member of the Stillwater school system.
