St. Bernard-Elmwood Place is a small school district. It has open enrollment which has enabled the school to have a diverse population of students. With the school being small, this allows for the children to thrive in a close knit environment. Students are able to have friends of all different ages and backgrounds. This allows the student to understand that compromise is very important in order to be successful in life. The problem lies with not having a diverse group of teachers. This is problematic because there is a great divide between the teachers and the students. Some of the teachers cannot relate to what the students have going on in their lives, which causes a lot of the kids to feel unwelcomed.
St.bernard is a very diverse establishment. You have people from different places, races, etc. The energy that flows through the halls is memorable and can't be forgotten. The friends that can be made and the relationships with staff that can be built is admirable.
I have resided in the district throughout my whole life thus far. The school does not do much for bullying and the rules switch up every other day. There is a lot of gossip shared from the faculty to the students. On the other hand, I do love this school because this is where I am from, I love my peers and I am thankful for the opportunity to grow up with them. I just wish the school did better for the students of ALL backgrounds. There definitely needs improvement on inclusiveness and preparing students for the workload of college as well as in the sport aspect.
