Southwestern Community Unit School District No. 9 Reviews
I like how everyone know everyone. There is no awkwardness of not knowing anybody. However, it is very clique-y. You have to find you own group if you don’t want to be an outcast. Also, the teachers want you to succeed. They aren’t out there trying to sabotage you or hinder your preparation for college. They genuinely want you to succeed and will help you through the process.
Southwestern is a very small school. It allows students to connect with their peers and teachers. This experience has been one that I will never forget. This school has given the best of friends and I feel that it was easy to connect to the teachers and other students. Each student feels that they have a family here and I will miss this school after I graduate. My teachers have helped shape who I have become and my friends and I have grown closer. Sure the building can get hot in the summer, but it leads to the jokes that brought each student closer.
I would change how behind our school is in technology. Being a small school district, it is difficult to go one-to-one due to lack of funding. We also had old and battered textbooks. This is a huge setback for this school. Overall, I wouldn’t trade the memories in this small community and school for the world. They always say small town, big dreams.
