My overall experience was average, but definitely not the best. A lot of things fell short during my time at this school district, especially when I went to the local high school. The administration stresses diversity but the schools are not diverse at all. Even after they merged the two high schools together into one big school, the racial and ethnic diversity was still very low. As an alum of Southfield High School, I've heard the facility as a whole has gotten worse since I've graduated. There are many unpleasant instances that make the school more unsafe than it was before. There is a lot of negative tension surrounding that school. This school did what it can to gear me and the rest of my classmates up for college, but the resources there were still very poor and unreasonable. I still do not regret my time growing up in this school district because I've met a lot of supportive people along the way. I still keep in touch with counselors and some of my teachers from past years.

I graduated from Southfield Lathrup and although I made many friends there, i wish I would've graduated from Cass Tech where I started. Cass better prepared me for college my first two years of high school way better than Southfield Lathrup did. Lathrup isn't even a school anymore! It got combined with Southfield High
I really like how the Southfield Public Schools district does so well with providing its students with constant test preparation. As students, we're always taking standardized tests and practice SAT tests. We also have admissions officers and counselors providing us with information about college and really helping us prepare for the future. Academically, as well, they do a good job with preparing us for college as far as the workload and the way they set up the classrooms. However, I wish I could see more diversity in our school districts. Also the buildings could use some renovations. We have no air in some of our classrooms at my school because of how old the building is.
