Southeast Dubois County school corporation has tons of amazing options. If you are looking for a school that has small class sizes, teachers that are willing to help at will, and a safe community, these schools have all those options. Our elementary schools have won multiple 4-star school awards, with really high I-step scores. The only thing that lacks is diversity, but that is more because of our geographic location than anything.
The school system works well. There are many positive things about Southeast Dubois County School Corporation, but I have to say there are a few negatives. Just a few of the positives are that students are encouraged to do their best by most of the teachers, the students are very intelligent, most of the teachers are amazing, and there is a therapy dog, . But, like all schools, there are a few negatives. I feel like the students are not allowed to express themselves as much as they would like, their Fine Arts does not get much funding, teachers pay is not great, they have little diversity, at lunch they run out of food, and backpacks are not allowed, they have little amounts of classes for students wanting to go into many fields as they offer very basic classes, the food is not that good, the diversity is little to none, and the physical school is just old and worn out .
Teachers are mostly friendly. High academic emphasis. Needs to financially put more emphasis on the arts rather than sports. Arts programs are far more successful than sports programs in this district.
