The quality of education provided here is exceptional. This school provides a litany of AP, honors, and CHS classes. Most of the teachers are phenomenal; they are compassionate, engaging, and always more than willing to help. Many of the teachers are experts in their field. There are a few bad teachers who should have retired (or in a few cases been let go) long ago, and they are protected by the administration who refuses to do anything about them. The guidance department is helpful and was invaluable to me when I was applying to colleges. Many of the students are quite science-focused, and as a humanities lover myself I found that there were very limited extracurricular and elective options in the humanities. Most academic clubs are science- or technology-related. Overall, my academic experience was excellent and my social life was okay, but I think that the administration has done a few problematic things.
Rather diverse district with people from all walks of life. Rigorous curriculum designed to help students do well on standardized tests and in college. Options for hands-on type of learning with video production, coding, and engineering classes. Classroom sizes are significantly large with 25-30 students assigned to teacher which causes some students to not receive the proper attention they need. Vast amount of clubs and after school activities. Clean and big facilities and variety of options in lunch accommodating dietary and religious restrictions.
A majority of the teachers are friendly, knowledgable, and approachable. That combined with a robust library and state-of-the-art technology/equipment, students have access to all of the resources they need to flourish. There are also plenty of course and club options, which are great for shaping students into well rounded individuals. That being said, the school district as a whole push for excellence, even if it is at the cost of the students’ mental health. It is recommended that students know their own limit and plan their years appropriately.
