I started in the Colonie school district at 5, and throughout my 13 years going from elementary to high school my experience was surprisingly better than what I had heard from other schools. Bullying will exist and persist anywhere, but at Colonie it wasn't as prevalent as in other schools. It never felt cliquey, and most students understood the importance of being kind to others. Throughout the years, I only had one single teacher that I felt did not do their job the best to their ability. Teachers were always kind and respectful, as long as they received the same. I enjoyed my time in Saddlewood, Lishakill, and South Colonie Central High School and would not have changed where I attended school.

While attending South Colonie Central High School, I sometimes felt out of place due to it being a predominately white school. Being the only African American in the classroom made me feel uncomfortable at times. But as I continues to grow as a person and as a student, I realized that I had the same right as everyone else in that school to earn a good education.
Because of this, I wish South Colonie Central High School was more diverse with its students and provided information and support to those who feel out of place.
South Colonie had a lot of opportunities for sports, clubs, and volunteer opportunities. I graduated in 2015 and things started to go downhill safety wise. There were many fights at least a few physical fights on school property a month. There is a police officer at the middle schools and high school, but 1 cop does not do much when he is not usually the first one to the fight. I had a lot of good teachers and also a fair share of not good teachers, however thats like any school.
