Honestly, South Bend Community School Corporation has very good intentions, and that much is clear. However, there are some changes that could be made to better focus on students' individual health and education. For example, this past year SBCSC bought many Smart TVs for almost all of the teachers in the building in my high school, and this could be seen as a good or bad thing. In theory these TVs may be useful and make the jobs of some teachers easier, but the question is whether or not this ease is worth all of the money spent that could have gone towards other programs. Over the past few years many students all over the world have struggled with mental health through the pandemic, and I believe the money used for the TVs could have gone towards a program for students to get free access to good, real counselors or therapists. This is just one example, but I just think the corporation should try to think more about the individual rather than trying to get into the top percentile.
I really enjoy learning from every teacher in the SBCSC District, they are great teachers and know how to teach properly. Students are involved in sports, clubs, and outside activities which help the community and the school!
As a current senior at John Adams High School and a student in the South Bend Community School Corporation for 13 years, I can honestly say that it has been a wonderful experience. Since kindergarten, I have been blessed to be taught under such admirable teachers. Most of the teachers I have had have shown utmost respect towards their students and do everything in their power to ensure every student is prepared to begin their next chapter in life. Also, my high school has definitely prepared me for going to college. Our schools are very diverse too. The corporation spans across the entire city of South Bend bringing together thousands of students, all who have different cultures and backgrounds. I have become great friends with many students who share similar backgrounds with me, and I have become excellent friends will those who have a different culture than I do. The only thing I would change about my corporation is the food provided. In conclusion, the corporation is fantastic.
