I transferred here my sophomore year, it was a very welcoming experience from the staff and teachers. I felt a bit out of place considering I hadn’t gone there before and now that it’s my senior year I feel that certain things were never properly explained to me such as silver cord and national honors society, as well as the grassing system in place here. I missed out on these things and didn’t even know until it was too late. I get good grades though and the school is pretty good over all, fantastic teachers and interesting classes.
Solon has a very unique environment. The administration often doesn't provide students with a lot of guidance on what they should be looking forward to, such as college planning and how to do simple things such as file taxes and apply for a loan after high school. The sports at Solon are excellent, the coaches push the players very hard and often teams find themselves competing at the state level. The music program, although underfunded, also thrives with multiple jazz choirs and band, as well as concert choir, band, drama, and many other groups. As with the sports, the music programs work to push their students to do their best. The only problem is that there is a stigma at Solon that you have to be involved in a lot to be anyone of importance, which not only makes those who do a lot more susceptible to stress and anxiety, but also makes those who are just focusing on getting good grades and learning feel left out of the crowd.
I’m currently a sophomore in the school. Our school is small and has a lot of team spirt. I have ment opportunity in my school and the staffs teaching abilities are phenomenal. They always encourage students to put there best foot forward in life. Our coaches are also the best human beings. Most of them are or have taught at the school and know how to make us thrive in ourselves. Personally I’m a dancer and cheerleader. I can tell you for certain the our coaches, teachers, faculty and staff only want your child’s education to be the best. It is going to be an honor to graduate Solon High School!
