Very good public school but very little diversity. The school district is over 90% white so if you’re a minority, relating to others culturally can be a challenge. The ap classes and ap teachers are great and prepare you well for college. Many of the students are racist and use the “n-word”. The administration and high school east is poor and should be better at addressing the needs of students. At high school east most of the bathrooms are locked because of vaping so you have to walk all the way across the school in order to find an unlocked bathroom (while still waiting on the insanely long line to use the bathroom).

Over my past four years in the Smithtown Central School District I have experienced many things that have made it a wonderful experience. Throughout the past couple years I have made life-long friends and relationships through school and other school-related activities. Smithtown really provides one with a range of different activities for one to be involved in. Everyone will be able to find at least one thing that they will enjoy doing and make their experience memorable. Another fact about the school district is that it really prepares one for the real world and challenges one may face. The teachers are always there to help you by offering extra help and advice. Now, nothing is perfect so that is why this school district gets a four star rating, but the greatness of this school district definitely outweighs the minor setbacks of it.
While attending Smithtown East I had the opportunities to try out for any sport I wanted to and get Involved in any kind of club. The staff and administrators has made it easy for students to get involved in whatever they would like to which aids in the overall sense of community throughout the disctrict. In addition, I have always felt safe at any of the Smithtown Schools, for security is taken very seriously. However, my ranking of 4/5 stars is due to the amount of pressure I have felt being an all AP/ honors stundent athlete. But, this also means that this district pushes students to be their best, which is what I love most about this district.
