Rating 3.8 out of 5 41 reviews
Sherwood School District had a very strong foundation for my education and a very strong group of teachers in every department. Personally, my experience was very positive other than the common high school experiences with exclusion and feeling left out, but I felt that the school district did a great job of making a space for every student. I do feel like many of our teachers are distant from their students and don't try to connect with them to better their education. I also feel like the diversity in the district is lacking and should be better. Sherwood School District does make a great attempt at inclusive activities for people of color and the LGBTQ+ community.
Excellent music and arts program. I found my group of friends and support joining the band and participating in Marching Band. The upper classman looked out for the newbies and with marching band I was able to meet friends even before school started. It's a HUGE high school, which is both good and bad. It's new, has every club, activity and technology that you could possibly imagine, but the halls all look the same. It's super easy to get lost in the school because its all pretty bland. Most of the teachers are excellent and care for the students and their education. There have been very few that seems like they did not want to be there teaching. Sherwood at a community is also very strong and active with the school. They volunteer and help to make our high school experience a better one. There's not enough parking for such a large school. I wish that they would have planned that better so that it didn't take an extra 30-40 mins to get to school and to go home at the end.
Sherwood School District is a homey and nice place to learn once you get to know it. There are many fun things to experience, and there are no shortage of opportunities to better your future. The staff are helpful and understanding, and the student body, for the most part, is pretty stellar. I just wish there were more languages offered in person than Spanish.
