I've been going to Shelby county schools since I was in the 1st grade. I can honestly say it was a good experience, nothing outrageous happened. It's a great school system. Especially with college readiness and academics being the front runners in carrying the school system. One thing they must work on which is going to be very difficult is diversity, the fact that we live in Memphis,TN which is a predomianantly black city we rarely ever see other races, and when we go off to college is very hard to relate or talk to other races if we've never encountered other races. All in all Shelby county is a great school district!

Shelby County Schools are ultimately great people. They are involved, believe in individuality of each student, and actually care. They have hundreds of schools to choose from if a certain school isn't the right fit for your child. Plenty of ways to get your child to school, every home in Shelby County will have a zoned school and bus route for you. If you have problems with an individual teacher they will get the problem solved. When unexpected obstacles arrive you can always count on them to get it solved!
A lot of schools in my district have been shut down due to budget cuts. There's also been a lead water scare in some schools due to old pipes. Neighboring school districts are better off than ours and I can't help but feel significantly less privileged. School lunch is mainly a daytime snack as they give us "healthy food" which is packed with all types of additives and unknown ingredients. Teachers aren't as inspired to teach and we are falling into an education depression. The POTUS should really focus on making education great again...FOR ALL!
