Shawnee Mission School District Reviews
They need to have more control overall! Seems that they are too afraid of getting sued, the schools and teachers are managed by the parents. If the parents want to have control they can do home school, but if they want their kids to go to school, they need to let the teachers take care of the kids. They are too concern about hurt the kid's feelings and they are not preparing them for real life, life is thought, competitive, and they are not teaching that,
I enjoy being a student in the Shawnee Mission School District because there are many supportive teachers who are willing to go out of their way to help you. We have an excellent Spanish program as well as fine arts programs. We have great technology and many sports programs. I feel very lucky to have the resources that I have in this school district. One thing I would change about this school district, however, is the amount of college preparation they give you. I wish there was more guidance and information given about scholarships and potential schools. I also think that there are some teachers who don’t particularly enjoy their job and don’t do the best job of teaching their students.
My school is Shawnee Mission North. I love my school. There are so many opportunities, so much diversity, so much love, we're just a big family. The teachers/staff care about your education. They want you to succeed. The effort the time they put in their students is unbelievable, it makes you feel like they actually care about not just you but your future. Freshman year they already start talking you to colleges, start teaching you how to get in,what you need and i love it! It helps to feel prepared. At North you will never feel left out. You will ALWAYS find that group of people that makes you feel like you belong. Of course its not all perfect and its going to be stressful and its going to be tough but the experience in high school the memories those are unforgettable. When you're stressed in school or don't understand something there is always people willing to help you out and teach you the way you learn best. I love my school, I love my family. I am proud to be an Indian.
