I had an overall great experiance! I found it to be a school with really excellent teachers. While the academics themselves are fantastic and the teachers are all incredibly helpful, they all also care about the individual success of each student and I truly find that inspiring. Ive had a multitude of amazing teachers throughout my highschool career and a few of them will certainly be remembered by me for the rest of my life. Both the teachers and staff alike really go out of their way to accommodate student needs and as a student with a 504 and accommodations, this was greatly appreciated. Overall I've had a wonderful experience with this highschool district.
Covid made everything extraordinarily difficult, and perhaps instilled a lot of poor habits in students as well as teachers and administrators. Everyone seems to be on edge all the time and school does not feel like it used to. Other than that, the campus is nice, I wasn’t ever the victim of a bully, and the wellness center is wonderful. Also, the bathrooms are always closed. Always. You’ve better off holding it till you get home.
I have been in the Shasta Union School District for a short amount of time, specifically in University Preparatory School, and have had a great experience with the teachers, academics, and overall message of the school. It is geared towards preparing students as best as possible for college, specifically universities. You are able to tell that the teachers really care about how you progress and whether you understand whatever material it is that they teach. It is an environment that encourages questions, discussion, and sometimes even debate. It has helped me grow as a student and I believe given me tools I need to succeed in college and life after.
