Shaler Area School District Reviews
Our performing arts department has won numerous awards, locally as well as nationally. We even performed in the magic kingdom parade this past April. We have wonderful passionate directors that do everything they can for their students. They want us to achieve our fullest potential and not only make us greater musicians, but better people too! This year we had an award given to us that was only given to 500 schools across the nation for their music program. We also put on elaborate stage productions. At Shaler we also have a wide variety of clubs and activities. Our teachers care for each and everyone of us and they always do what is best for their kids.
Shaler Area is a well-rounded district with some of the best staff and the greatest school spirit. From k-12 I have been prepared for not only college, but for my soon-to-be adult life. Personally, Shaler Area High School has taught me rewarding amounts of leadership, confidence, and independence. I have obtained a sense of curiosity along with the education I have earned throughout my years at Shaler. Within every school in Shaler Area, the teachers are always willing to connect with their students, personally and academically. We are prepared for the real life solely by the guidance of our amazing teachers. Shaler culture is like no other. In particular, our homecoming parade is an on-going tradition that the entire district looks forward to every year. Our school spirit is as strong as can be and the students have a never ending opportunity to become their own person.
Attending Shaler was average. I appreciate many of the teachers I had there, it felt like a lot of them really cared and valued their jobs and their relationships with the students. However, the schools fund are rather limited, it is not culturally diverse at all and is rather closed off to the rest of the world. I feel as though the school has remained in this bubble for some time and it's not good for the growth of high school students. They should really try to branch out into the world to help culminate growth and differences. I still enjoyed my time spent there.
