Schuylkill Haven Area School District Reviews
Not a great experience. People are rude and faculty and staff stands around talking about children. My child told me repeatedly how she heard teachers gossiping?!?! Great examples of what I want my children to see. Yes, small school but definite pros and cons to that! Not many teachers coach sports like they used to. So lots of Daddy ball going on, it’s all who you know and whether or not your related to someone. Not a fan of these values! The elementary school is so small. What does Haven do...put in a preschool. All about the fundraisers and raising taxes but you never see where that money goes. Don’t even get me started on the lunches. I wouldn’t feed that food to my dogs. No healthy options, you ask for a salad and the very ride lunch staff looks at you like you have two heads. If you want a bright future for your children this is not the school!
When you hear about certain schools, you hear of problems such as bullying. Schuylkill Haven may not get all 5 stars but we do not tolerate bullying. We are a very small school so in tune everyone knows everyone. Due to this we all sort of become associated with one another. Which is also very good. Some things really need improvement such as the cleanliness as well as the food portions being served. Another thing that needs to be fixed is the availability of guidance councilors. I was trying to get information for college but they were never to be found.
It’s a great school despite the size. Easy to know everyone and be involved. They refer to the “haven family” and that’s really what it is, a family. The faculty is constantly encouraging the students to do their best and expand their horizons. Athletics are extremely important to both staff, students and whole town. Everyone comes out for football games and the encouragement is incredible. I’m beyond thankful that I grew up in such an incredible district. I’ll cherish my memories at Schuylkill Haven forever. No school is perfect, but I was happy every year.
