This is a public school thinly disguised as a college prep school, putting extremely high expectations and work loads onto children from a young age. Sure there are very nice and loving faculty members with great ideas for curriculum but if you are a child with learning disabilities, 504s, or an IEP most teachers are not forgiving or respectful which is such a great shame. Neurotypical children are pushed to their limits to succeed and those who cannot keep up struggle and struggle hard.
Attending this school has opened many opportunities for myself and others that are not accessible to those less fortunate in all categories, academically, athletically, and skillfully. The teachers welcome all students who are willing to work hard for what they want and hope they can inspire and answer any questions you have. As a district, all of the schools are always looking for ways to involve all ages in dozens of community activities and unifications. If there were anything I'd like to see change, it would be to have more communication between elementary to middle school students and middle school to high school students. I think more communication and involvement could spark a sense of being a role model and inspiration to those younger and older, and using this motivation to do greater things!
I attended Upper Dublin School District from K through 12 and overall it was a good experience. With roughly 320 students in each class, its not too big but not too small. You are able to "know" everyone but also encounter new people at the same time. The 4 elementary schools are exactly what you'd expect: built in the mid 1950s and get the job done. The teachers at them are your typical went to college for four years and then went right back to teaching kind of teachers. I feel like my educational needs at the time were fulfilled from what the elementary school had to offer. Moving to middle school is a step up combining the 4 elementary schools into one. Sandy Run Middle School is one of the worst facilities I have ever seen to date. Have been built in the 1960s, Its run down with constant leaks when it rains to poweroutages randomly throughout the year to mold issues. Luckily a new building is in the works and should solve the issue. Overall UDSD is mediocre and nothing special.
