What I liked about the Santa Barbara unified school district is that I was able to try out new things through lout the years. For example, I thought I wanted to do something with art so I took art classes and joined Vada but I also realized that I didn’t like it as much. Not because the classes were boring but I realized to myself that I was uninterested in it so I took another opportunity that Santa Barbara unified school district offered me. I took a internship at my school that involved sports medicine. They have great clubs that can teach kids my age and younger new and important things that’s going on in the world. The school spirit at my school can be very fun when you participate but it’s also fun to just watch from the sides. I consider my school to be a safe place. Nothing extreme or a small bad thing has happened to me and I believe that I’m safe at the school.
Throughout my 7th to 12th grade, I was in the Santa Barbara Unified School District. The teachers are nice and friendly. They have different courses to choose from for your electives. The place is diverse that you can meet a lot of different people. The schools always make sure they are clean. You would most likely never see trash littering everywhere. One thing that could be change about it, is better spread of mental health. Make a place other then going to the counselor's office where students can have a safe zone.
I have had a great high school experience. San Marcos is definitely the best academic high school out of the public schools in Santa Barbara (SBHS and DPHS). However there was a lot of issues with the administration and false lock downs, San Marcos and the Santa Barbara Unified community is great!
