San Mateo Union High School District Reviews
My experience in the San Mateo Union High School District has honestly been good for the past four years of my high school journey. From Friday Night football games to winning a photography award, I have enjoyed my time here for the most part. Although my school, Burlingame High, has proved very "clicky" and has many students who feel entitled, i have managed to make life long friends while lossing previous best friend along the way due to the culture of the school. From my perspective, the majority of the girls at Burligame can be very hurtful and disregarding their peers. I would love to see more school spirit, similar to San Mateo High School itself. Another thing I would like to see change is the inequality within female and male athletics. What I have observed my years here, Boys football receives the majority of the athletic funding and recently received all-new Nike gear. As a female athlete, I would love to see some changes within the athletics here in the district.
San Mateo High School district is top notch! There is diversity, numerous resources for students, excellent teachers and the administration that truly cares and works hard to promote education and culture for their students. The campuses are safe and clean.
This district is amazing in regards to academics and the level of intelligence regarding the teachers. However, the mental health programs are atrocious and leaves many students to feel that there is a lack of support from the administration. The administration is also garbage. They care more about banning kids from decorating their graduation caps and making sure the streamers are 18 inches from the roof rather than providing an adequate learning environment. The teachers and staff are what make this district great. It's hard to find a school in this district with a staff not dedicated to their students. The teachers and staff(not administration) change the lives of their students for the better, and almost everyone who graduates from this district has at least one teacher that changed their life.
