RCISD has a special place in my heart because when I moved here, it was in these schools that I met my best friends and found a love for theater, but honestly, in the last few years, I realized that the district does not put enough effort into keeping its students safe, doesn't prepare it's students enough for college and only provides any club/endorsement that's not part of football season with the bare minimum. As a student involved in the arts, I've seen many situations where the school doesn't help theater and choir in scheduling and where theater has been left to work with old, outdated equipment. It wasn't even until recently that the district provided enough qualified teachers for theater and choir. Also, as a student who takes AP classes, I never hear any information on how to apply for college but hear about my dual credit friends getting help, and of course, it's no secret that the highschool has had a lot of trouble with violence and drugs this year.
Royse City High School has been overcrowded from the massive amount of incoming students. The hallways are insanely claustrophobic and the rules are outdated. Our surrounding areas such as: Heath High School, Rockwall Heath High School, Greenville High School, Sachse High School, and many more allow their students to wear shorts. However, Royse City does not allow this. Texas heat is detrimental as well as the overpopulation and the often broken AC. Royse City needs to have adjustments in their teachers as well. We have had many male teachers hit on several high school girls which is not at all acceptable. What was a great rule system for Royse City, is now needing adjustments due to the capacity and needs of the students.
I graduated from Royse City High School in 2022. Before I graduated, the school was very crowded and overpopulated. You were shoulder to shoulder, tripping over the back of individual shoes.
What I did like about Royse City High School were the teachers. The teachers were very sweet and committed to their job and their students. Most I could say felt like family.
