Rosemount High School was an awesome school, and what you would expect from a US funded high school. It felt like prison at times, but nevertheless, I persisted. I had the wonderful opportunity to join college in my last two years of high school, and boy did it feel like a breath of fresh air. We need to change this system around. Student participation rate starts to drop dramatically in these years. Everyone starts to tune out. Ever heard of the senior slack? It's real, and the best way to combat it is to start treating students that are adults, like adults. They go from having bells, being told when to go to the bathroom, and then are in charge of real adult jobs the day after graduation. Nice! Well done! You did it! Go get em!

I moved into the district when I entered third grade. Everybody was extremely welcoming and really tried to keep me included which was really hard because I was really shy. The middle schools definitely stress the importance of being able to hold a leadership position and the high schools are top in the country for academics. I was also bullied but as soon as I told a teacher, things got better. Honestly the best part about this district is that there is a junior/senior school that is on the campus of the Minnesota zoo. They do the most college preparation out of any of the schools. Even better, you don't have to be fully enrolled at the school to take career development courses like music production or animal science.
I was a student in the district of 196 my entire life. I could not imagine going to school anywhere else. The staff is incredible at all age levels. The teachers want to teach the students and you can see it in their enthusiasm every class. From pre-k to senior year of high school it is an amazing school district. Yes there can be bumps in the road, like any school, but ISD 196 never failed to make students feel safe and like their opinion mattered. Wether that was being on Westview TV at Westview Elementary School or traveling with the Debate Team of Apple Valley High School, a staff member is always there cheering you on wanting you to succeed.
