Rating 4 out of 5 45 reviews
It was a great experience and my school, Whitney, specifically created a lot of events to make students feel welcomed and cared for. The programs on campus were very strong and a lot of it was a good time. However they have repeatedly forgiven and turned a blind eye to a lot of hate speech, bullying, and inappropriate actions. There was a report of a students repeatedly slurring the N word, and several black students expressed that it made them uncomfortable. However my school did not do anything to stop it, not even forced him to serve detention.
Rocklin Unified School District, in particular Whitney High, is a wonderful district/school to attend. It provides an immersive classroom experience in a variety of different subjects and elective classes that are open for all to take. From dance to culinary studies to woodworking, Whitney High hosts a multitude of options that can be selected to cater to anybody's needs. It also has a focus on inclusion and diversity—particularly regarding students with disabilities. Neurodiversity and Down's Syndrome awareness are largely talked about, as are mental health issues like eating disorders and depression. Whitney even offers to help organize awareness panels for students with other specific disabilities that are not widely talked about. In this area, Whitney excells; as well as the academic area, Whitney is an intensively elite school and I highly recommend it from my personal experience.
Rocklin Unified does a very good job in emphasizing the importance of an education and the high school curriculum prepares you for college very well. One thing the school district fails to understand is not everyone's ultimate goal is to attend a four year college or university. Some people have different goals and aspirations that they strive for and college may not be one of them. I think the school should have implemented optional programs that help students who do not want to go to college, explore different career options that do not require a degree. Overall the school district is very good and is definitely recommended for anyone who is college bound.
