As with anything, the level of caring, professionalism and commitment to academic success varies.
At the elementary level, I've had great experiences with the leadership and faculty at HCE. Some teachers were great, some, not so much. From a make-up test at a table full of talking children to a teacher telling a class that 10+5=18, I kept my eyes open.
RCA is great. RMSST, is hit or miss. Some teachers give notes, labs and tests - instruction EXCLUDED. Other teachers are successful at preparing your child academically. My child had an AP class where the teacher didn't even finish the materials for the course, nor review what they learned before the AP Exam... I had another teacher avoid setting up a call with me. Other teachers put on a good show for the parents but it's a whole other story in the classroom. When kids ask questions, it's either an inconvenience or the children are told to look at their notes. To be held in such high esteem with inadequate effort is disappointing.

My experience with the schools in Rockdale county was fairly good. The clubs and activities made my time there very enjoyable as well as how diverse the schools are. Most of the teachers in these schools enjoy what they do, though there are a few "bad apples". The science, technology, and math teachers take their jobs very seriously, so kids should be able to learn the basics as long as they pay attention. Two things I would like for them to do better with is parent involvement and helping students when they are being harassed by other students.
I would like the Rockdale County School System to provide more outside resources for their community and students. I would like to see them create programs that involve school kids giving back to their community. I a younger child when I wanted to volunteer, I had to find resources myself. Of course my mother had to lead the way but I do believe the school system should have had some direction for me to go in. I feel like an outreach program at the school level would be a great addition to the Rockdale County School System for individual student and the community as a whole.
