Rating 3.97 out of 5 36 reviews
Richland is a school with relatively mediocre educational standards and little academic planning to ensure children go on to good colleges and universities. They've coasted on the pattern of housing discrimination in the region that keeps low income families out of the district, so they haven't invested in any support services in the district like social and family services or serious extracurriculars besides sports. Some teachers are good and some seem to be there because it's one of the few stable careers in the area. Administrators all seemed to fall into their jobs. It's a calm community that's pretty predictable, but if you're looking for a place that will prepare your child from a young age for college, maybe consider moving to another place.
My experience at Richland has been really good. I've made alot of friends at school thru the years. I was involved in football, basketball and baseball while attending Richland. Their sports program is the best. Most of the teachers are nice and will go out of their way to help you. They have an awesome food court. My senior year has been hard and kind of depressing with all the COVID restrictions going on. My principal and teachers have gone out of their way to help us all thru this. I'm really going to miss Richland when I graduate.
My experience at Richland began all the way back in Kindergarten. Over the years, I have made new friends, loved my teachers, and became a better student. When I became an official high school student, everyone was welcoming. Richland is overall enjoyable from the staff to the students. Anytime I needed help, the teachers and students were always willing to help out. The food is typical high school food, but at Richland, there is an overwhelming amount of choices. The janitors are the kindest people, I'll probably ever meet, I always gave my favorite one my unopened milk after lunch. Richland has made me the successful, young woman I am. I could not have asked for a better High School experience, besides COVID-19 cutting my senior year short. I do not believe they have to change anything.
