With the small class sizes, teacher’s connection to students make attending the school enjoyable. Unfortunately, this does not overshadow the school’s warped rule book and inability to accommodate to student needs. This can be seen in their treatment of sexual assault/harassment issues and minorities. Even I have gone through my fair share of issues because of the school. Being a transgender student has forced me to deal with anything dealt to me on my own. If and when I reached out, I would get turned down and inevitably pushed aside for their own comfort.
The only thing I really like about Rapoport Academy, was how they get kids ready for college and pay for college classes but that is pretty much it. Everything else about this school is a living hell. One, teachers and administration are always changing. With in my 4 years of being there, I lost about two or three teachers a year especially ones that were my favorite ones. The school also doesn't care for what the students have to say about things. Like we want to do something that is fun and creative, shut us down, give the students a vague excuse and do events that people don't care for or even go to. Rapoport Academy is a school that I feel that had so much potential to be great school especially for POC and Black kids. Where they can learn STEM and get ready for college at an early age but they refuse to take advantage of it yet. I want the school to be better and get better for future generations but that probably won't happen which is very sad and disappointing for everyone.
I liked the academics and the teachers support was good for the most part they were helpful with my growth as a student. The teachers were available to help the students when it was necessary as well as they took care of most necessities. There was a lot of diversity which was great for the students, although we were divided due to the style of organization of the school. The school has a great academic program that advances students to have a more successful outcome. The administration was very resourceful with such things student essentials, as well as they worked well with parents.
